Hummingbird Robotics at Butler County ESC

Date(s): 06/12/2017 - 06/16/2017

This camp is designed for students interested in the field of robotics. The camp will look at the history and evolution of robotics, its use in today’s world of work/play, and the potential for the future. Campers will use the Hummingbird Robotics Kit, basic crafting materials, and their own imagination to create and program a fully operational robot. Lunch is not provided.
Ages: 11-14
Cost: $150

Programming: Arts and Bots Workshop

Date(s): 06/17/2017 - 06/17/2017

This workshop uses a Hummingbird robotics kit and craft materials to introduce students to basic robotics and programming. Art, engineering, and electricity concepts are explored. Students will learn how to creatively use servos, sensors, and LEDs to make their robot creations come to life. No experience is needed!
Grades: 6 - 8
Cost: This is a free training; however, participants must purchase a robot kit so they can take home their robot.  A Hummingbird base kit costs $159.00.

Rockin’ Robotics: Creativity Abound at Launch Math and Science Centers

Date(s): 06/19/2017 - 08/18/2017

At Launch’s newest robotics camp, they supply the tools and the campers supply the creativity! Kids move beyond LEGO and build real robotic machines – robots they take home to keep for further exploration. Using a programmable Hummingbird Duo Microcontroller as the brain, campers set off and use their imagination to add various motors, sensors, LEDs, wheels, and body parts to their designs. Once they have created a moving horse, or perhaps a speedy racecar (or whatever they imagine!), campers bring their creations to life by using Snap!, Python, or Java to code their Hummingbird Duos so that their robots do whatever they desire. Most exciting, each day begins with a theme or goal and ends with different robotic designs!
Ages: Campers entering grades 4-8
Cost: $795 per week
Please visit Launch's website for camp locations and dates.

Create-A-Bot at Carnegie Science Center

Technology and imagination unite as you combine craft materials and robotic components to build and animate robotic creations. Using visual programming software and Hummingbird Robotics Kits, campers will engage in the artistic side of robotics.
Ages: 10 and 11
Cost: $210 members/$230 non-members

Writing and Robotics

Date(s): 07/17/2017 - 07/21/2017

Writing and Robotics is an afternoon companion program in conjunction with the Young Writer’s Camp.  In this program, we will give students an opportunity to design and construct a working robot based on the writing they create in the Young Writer’s Camp.
Grades: 6 - 12
Cost: $250 before May 1st, $275 after May 1st
